Arasan Chip Systems Announces Automotive Grade MIPI DPHY

Arasan Chip Systems a leading provider of semiconductor IP for mobile and automobile SoC’s today announced the availability of it’s MIPI DPHY IP Core qualified for use in the stringent automobile operating conditions.

Arasan’s MIPI D-PHY Analog Transceiver IP Core is fully compliant to the D-PHY specification version 1.1. It supports the MIPI® Camera Serial Interface (CSI-2) and Display Serial Interface (DSI) protocols. It is a Universal PHY that can be configured as a transmitter, receiver or transceiver.

The IP is GF40nm Global Foundries Automotive Grade 1 Qualified which provides:

  • Temperature range of -40C to 135C
  • HTOL test at 150C
  • Layout compliant to stringent DFM requirements for automotive grade 1

“Arasan is leading the convergence of mobile and automobile SoC’s. MIPI is growing to become the defacto standard on automobile processors, while our UNH Certified Ethernet IP Cores and the newly announced CAN FD controller IP Core enable the flow of data to the processor.” said Prakash Kamath, CTO at Arasan.

“We are pleased to have Arasan’s MIPI IP Solutions for Camera and Display available to our automotive silicon suppliers”, said Derrick Carson Director of Alliance Programs, Global Foundries, “our GF40nm automotive process provides high performance and reliability with the low cost that Automotive OEMs value”.

Cameras are rapidly being adopted in automobiles, e.g. infortainment, parking, backing up. Future models will fully embrace automatic driver assistance systems (ADAS) requiring more cameras for collision avoidance, distracted driver alerts, etc. and will have high video bandwidth requirements.

Electric vehicles and autonomous driving require provide enhanced displays. These applications and the other ECU requirements will drive double digit growth in the $31B Automotive Semiconductor Market.

Arasan’s Total IP Solutions are used in mobile, avionics. industrial, and defense applications and now offers reliability tested IP Cores to the Automotive World with the harsh temperature ranges and extreme reliability requirements.

Availability

Arasan’s D-PHY IP Solution in GF40nm is available now and includes a full PPI digital interface in RTL wtih the analog GDSII database with deliverables for layout integration.
